The Australian Government is committed to support international students and has made many changes to accomodate students wishing to study in Australia.
Students who may have their student visa expiring and will like to continue with their studies in Australia will need to lodge a new application before their visa expires.
International students can lodge a student visa application free of charge if they were unable to complete their studies within their original visa validity due to COVID-19.
Who can apply for the fee waiver?
According to the Department of Home Affairs website states the fee waiver: ‘Is available to students who held a student visa on or after 1 February 2020 and who couldn’t complete their course within their original visa validity due to the impacts of COVID-19.’
International students must apply for a student visa after midnight August 5 2020 in order to have their application considered for the fee waiver. Students who have applied for their vets before August 5 are not eligible for a refund.
How to apply for the fee waiver
Students must apply for this visa online despite if you’re located in or outside of Australia.
In addition to your student visa application, you will need to attach a completed form from your education provider, who will be required to show how COVID-19 has affected your visa requirements.
